Youth program at Strong Martha

I teach kids boxing at Strong Martha, and the first conversation I have with almost every parent is some version of: “Are they going to get punched?” The answer is no. Full stop.

What kids boxing actually looks like

Our kids program (ages 9–14) runs as a six-week session with one class per week. We focus on stance, footwork, basic combinations, and conditioning games. Kids work bags, mitts, and agility drills. There is no sparring and no contact between students.

  • We provide sanitized gloves and wraps—parents don't need to buy gear to start.
  • Classes are capped so every child gets coaching attention.
  • We emphasize listening, respect, and effort over “toughness.”
  • Kids leave sweaty and proud, not bruised.

Why boxing for kids at all?

Boxing training develops coordination, core strength, and body awareness in ways that translate to other sports. It also gives kids who aren't drawn to team sports a physical outlet with clear progression. I've watched shy kids find their voice after nailing a combination they've practiced for weeks.

From a neurological standpoint, learning complex movement patterns at a young age supports motor development and focus. Non-contact boxing avoids the head-impact concerns that rightly worry parents about competitive fighting sports.

Pricing and scheduling

Kids boxing is $180 for a six-class session (one class per week). Check our pricing page or call the gym for the current session dates. If you're unsure whether your child is ready, reach out—we're happy to talk it through.
